Drink at least 8 ounces of water with each dose. If used for bowel prep, consume the entire prescribed volume, usually 3-4 liters, along with additional clear liquids to prevent dehydration.
Avoid Colyte if you have bowel obstruction, toxic megacolon, perforated intestine, severe dehydration, or kidney disease. Consult a doctor if pregnant, on diuretics, or have electrolyte imbalances.
Colyte is a polyethylene glycol (PEG) electrolyte solution used for bowel cleansing before a colonoscopy. It flushes out the colon by drawing water into the intestines, causing frequent bowel movements.
Drink an 8-oz glass of bowel preparation every 15 minutes until a half gallon is consumed. You may continue to drink clear liquids only until midnight.
It depends on the purpose. For occasional constipation, take at night for results by morning. For colonoscopy prep, follow your doctor’s schedule, usually evening and early morning.
